Estimates: an overview
Where estimates live, how to start one, what is in the editor, and the ways your client can choose.

Overview
An estimate shows your client what you propose. They approve, revise or decline it item by item. Estimates live with every other document you send clients, in Finances › Client billing › All documents.
Watch it: the Finances lesson in Campus, step 2, “Make an estimate”, chapter 1, “Start an estimate” (starts at 0:09) and chapter 6, “Three ways to see it” (starts at 2:19).
Find your estimates
The Estimates tile adds up what is awaiting a response, what is approved, and your approval rate. Click it and the list shows only estimates.

Start an estimate
Click New, then Estimate. You can also start from a calculator result or a form response.
Pick the project first. Every document is numbered for its project, so you can tell at a glance where it belongs.

The editor
Across the top: the number and status, the project, date, valid until date and tags, with Save, Preview as client and the send button.
Under that: your company information, Bill to and Ship to.
Then the sections and their items. From this project adds the project’s own products and services; Add product and Add service add a one-off line.
The footer keeps the total in view as you work.

Choices for your client
Options let them pick a finish, at the same price or a different one.
Alternates put two pieces side by side, with your pick marked.
Add-ons are extras they can add with one click. Room versions show a whole room two ways.
Every choice shows what it does to their total before they decide.
