How to lock and unlock the client portal
Close the client portal for maintenance, reopen it, or keep just one project out.
Written By Timothy Murenzi
Maintenance mode closes the client portal while you work on something. Clients see a short notice instead of their portal. You and your team keep working as normal.
Lock (close) the portal
Go to Settings › Studio › Client experience.
Scroll to Maintenance mode (marked Studio-wide).
Turn on Close the client portal.
Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

While it is on:
Every client sees the maintenance notice, including clients who are already signed in.
Nothing saves or syncs for clients.
Clients can still sign out from the notice.
You can leave the portal open for one client while it is closed for everyone else.
Unlock (reopen) the portal
Go back to Settings › Studio › Client experience › Maintenance mode.
Turn off Close the client portal.
Click Save changes.
Clients get their portal back as soon as they reload.
Closing one project instead
To keep just one project out of the portal, open the project’s Client portal tab and turn off This project appears in the client portal. To remove one person, turn off their toggle under Who can see it.
Watch it: chapter 1 of the Client portal lesson in Campus, “The project’s own tab” (starts at 0:11).
Troubleshooting
Clients see a maintenance notice but my switch is off. It may be a platform-wide maintenance from Workroom. Check with support.
A client still sees the notice after I reopened. Ask them to refresh the page.
