Sections, sub-items and views on an estimate or invoice
Organize a long estimate or invoice: sections, grouping by room or category, sub-items under a piece, and three views.

Overview
Long estimates and invoices stay easy to read with sections, grouping, sub-items, and a view that fits the job.
Watch it: the Finances lesson in Campus, step 2, “Make an estimate”, chapter 4, “Sub-items” (starts at 1:36) and chapter 6, “Three ways to see it” (starts at 2:19).
Sections
Each section has a name, an optional subtitle, and its own total. Collapse one with the arrow beside its name, or use Collapse all sections.
Each section ends with Add product, Add service, From this project and Add allowance.
Add new section sits below the last section.
Drag an item by its handle to move it.
Group items
Click Group items and choose Room (location) or Category. Grouping reads the room or category from each product, so fill those in on the product first.

Sub-items
Sub-items sit under a piece and add on top of it, like the fabric and labor for a custom ottoman. Each has its own source, quantity, unit cost, markup, discount, freight, tax and deposit.
Show sub-items to client decides whether your client sees them or only the piece’s total.
Mark a fabric COM when it is bought on its own and sent to the workroom. It shows on their order, without a price.

Three views
Detailed is the full line.
Spreadsheet shows many lines at once, in sets of columns: pricing, specs, ordering and what the client sees. Edit any cell right there. Select rows to change many at once, like a new markup, with Undo. Drag a column to put it where you want it.
Compact folds each item to a single row.
Pick the view you like and make it your default.
