How to choose what your client sees on an estimate

Choose the pricing your client sees, what shows on their page, and how they approve.

Written By Julia M.

Overview

Preview as client shows the estimate exactly as your client will. Its Show to client panel chooses what they see.

Watch it: the Finances lesson in Campus, step 3, “Send it and get an answer”, chapter 1, “What your client sees” (starts at 0:07).

Steps

  1. Open the estimate and click Preview as client.

  2. Under Pricing shown to client, choose Per item, Per section or Total only.

  3. Use the switches to show or hide markup, discounts, the processing fee, tax, the retail list price, the internal memo, line deposits, the ship to address, freight, descriptions, specifications, attachments and the budget meter.

  4. Under Approval mode, choose whether your client answers each Item, each Section, or the Whole estimate.

Studio defaults

New estimates start from your studio defaults. To change one estimate without opening the preview, click the arrow beside Preview as client.

Good to know

  • Keep Markup / Margin off unless you mean your client to see it.

  • The PDF starts from the same choices. You can change them for one download with Customize.
