Purposefully Sequential Phases/Tasks

I’m creating custom phases and tasks to reflect our company’s workflow. Our phases are Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Design Documentation, and Implementation, with specific tasks under each phase that need to be completed in a particular sequence.

Currently, I’m seeing that phases and tasks do not automatically populate in the order they are entered or arranged, which makes it difficult to maintain a logical workflow. It would be helpful if tasks could automatically display in a predefined order within each phase, rather than appearing randomly, so the workflow follows the intended sequence of steps. While adding dates can control the sequence, I’d prefer not to rely on dates just to keep tasks in the correct order. It is possible I am not understanding the UX, but that will be an issue for my designers who will eventually be using this program. Thanks!
